Police in the North Yorkshire area of England are appealing for assistance to trace a 46-year-old Latvian man who has been reported missing from his home in York.
Gunārs Verhopurovs of Lidgett Grove is thought to be in the area of Shipton by Benninbrough—possibly along the A19 motorway corridor, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said in an Aug. 11 press release.
Officers believe a local resident or shop owner allowed Verhopurovs to use the Internet the morning of Aug. 11 to make contact with his wife in Latvia, according to the press release.
Police are concerned for his safety as he suffers from depression and has possibly been sleeping outdoors since he was reported missing by his flatmate at teatime on Aug. 9, according to the press release.
“Our enquires and searches remain ongoing to locate Mr. Verhopurovs,” said York Police Inspector Allan Wescott. “We are very concerned about his welfare and his wife and daughter in Latvia are worried sick about him.”
Verhopurovs is described as a white, 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 meters) tall, of very slim build, with blue eyes, thinning brown hair and tattoos on both arms. At the time of going missing he was wearing a red jacket with white trim, brown trousers and brown shoes. He speaks poor English.
Persons with information on his whereabouts are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police at +44 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110133724.
