Reģistrēties pasta balsošanai 11.Saeimas vēlēšanās tiek aicināti tie vēlētāji ārvalstīs, kuriem nebūs iespējams vēlēšanu dienā nobalsot personīgi kādā no ārvalstīs izveidotajiem vēlēšanu iecirkņiem, no Rīgas ziņo Kristīne Bērziņa, Centrālās vēlēšanas komisijas Informācijas nodaļas vadītāja.

Saraksts ar vēlēšanu iecirkņiem ārzemēs nav vēl sastādīts.

Pieteikumus balsošanai pa pastu iespējams iesniegt 21 Latvijas Republikas diplomātiskajā un konsulārajā pārstāvniecībā – vēstniecībās ASV Vašingtonā, Azerbaidžānā Baku, Beļģijā Briselē, Grieķijā Atēnās, Igaunijā Tallinā, Izraēlā Telavivā, Īrijā Dublinā, Kanādā Otavā, Krievijā Maskavā, Ķīnā Pekinā, Lielbritānijā Londonā, Lietuvā Viļņā, Norvēģijā Oslo, Polijā Varšavā, Portugālē Lisabonā, Turcijā Ankarā, Vācijā Berlīnē, Zviedrijā Stokholmā, goda ģenerālkonsulātā Brazīlijā Sanpaulu, kā arī goda konsulātos Austrālijā Adelaidē un Sidnejā.

Lai pieteiktos balsošanai pa pastu, vēlētājam jebkurā no pārstāvniecībām, kuras pieņem pasta pieteikumus, jānogādā iesniegums un pase. Iesniegumu un pasi pārstāvniecībā var nogādāt gan pats vēlētājs, gan vēlētāja uzticības persona.

Reģistrējoties pasta balsošanai, pase nepieciešama, jo Saeimas vēlēšanās netiek lietots vēlētāju reģistrs, tāpēc vēlētāja pasē obligāti izdarāma atzīme – spiedogs – par dalību 11. Saeimas vēlēšanās.

Police in southeastern England have arrested a man in connection with the murder of his wife, according to British media.

Agris Titāns, 24, was arrested the evening of Aug. 2 in Rochester, which is about 50 kilometers east of London. Titāns’ 22-year-old wife, Edīte Titāne, was found murdered Aug. 1 in a house in Rochester.

A post-mortem examination determined she had been strangled, the BBC reported.

The couple have a young child who is now in the care of Edīte Titāne’s mother.

Police in England are looking for a 24-year-old Latvian man in connection with the murder of his wife, according to British media reports.

Agris Titāns is being sought after the body of his 22-year-old wife, Edīte Titāne, was found the morning of Aug. 1 in a home in Rochester, which is in Medway about 50 kilometers east of London.

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate has begun an investigation into the death.

“We understand he moved to Medway from Latvia about three months ago in search of work and believe he may still be in the area,” Detective Chief Inspector Jon Clayden said in a press release.

Titāns is described as 5 feet, 5 inches (1.65 meters) tall and of slim build.

Kent Police are asking for anyone with information about the whereabouts of Titāns to telephone them at +44 01622 690690.

The election of the 11th Saeima—replacing the parliament that voters in Latvia and abroad fired in the recent referendum—will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, the Central Election Commission in Rīga has announced.

Political parties may begin submitting their candidate list on July 29, but the last day to file will be Aug. 18, the commission decided.

In all, the Saeima is composed of 100 members. Of those, 30 will be elected from the Rīga district, 27 from Vidzeme, 15 from Latgale, 15 from Zemgale and 13 from Kurzeme. Compared to October’s election of the 10th Saeima, Rīga has gained one deputy while Latgale has lost one, a commission spokeswoman said in a press release.

The September election is a result of the July 23 referendum in which almost 95 percent of more than 689,000 citizens voted for dissolving the current parliament. The referendum was brought about by then-President Valdis Zatlers’ call on May 28 to send the Saeima packing in answer to concerns about corruption and the political power of a handful of oligarchs.

Until the new parliament is elected, new President Andris Bērziņš may still call on the 10th Saeima to meet, the president’s press office announced July 26. However, sessions will be delierate and item will only appear on the lawmakers’ agenda if the Saeima and the coalition government have fully evaluated questions.
