Labyrinth Choir is on tour for the first time. Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. Anita Kupriss is a first generation Latvian American. Two other singers with Latvian heritage also sing with the group: Mārtiņš Aldiņš and Krisīte Skare. Latvia is a vital part of our heritage and our hearts, and this is the first place that we considered touring. We feel we have a built-in fan base in our home country.
Labyrinth Choir consists of a professional choral conductor, sixteen professional singers and a professional accompanist. The repertoire includes Classical, Broadway, jazz, traditional folk music, spirituals, popular, rock and contemporary Classical music. Labyrinth Choir has sung in English, Latin, Italian, Urdu, Estonian, Latvian, Spanish, Hebrew and French. Our first CD The Heart of Music was released in April 2015 and is available on iTunes and CDBaby.
We will be performing in Helsinki, Finland, Tallinn, Estonia and Riga and Sigulda in Latvia. Our tour repertoire will consist of a combination of American and international composers. In honor of our host countries we will perform Chydenius, Sisask and Esenvalds songs. Other featured composers are Lauridsen, Argento, Monk, Stroop and Whitacre.
