A new compact disc by post-folklore group Iļģi is “coming out real soon,” the band reveals on its MySpace page. Titled Ej Tu dejot, the record is going to be the band’s first fully instrumental album, a March 9 post on the site announced.
Few other details are given, except that fans of Irish, reggae, Jewish and country music will find something on the new album.
The last album from Iļģi, Ne uz vienu dienu, was released in 2006 and focused on the band’s interpretation of Latvian wedding folk songs. It reached No. 2 on the World Music Charts Europe. Since then, the band has toured the U.S., played an Independence Day concert in Belgium, presented a Christmastime concert in Rīga, has made its albums available in digital format on a number of online music shops like iTunes and Amazon.com, and is planning an April 8 concert in Rīga with the Russian band Reelroad, according to the group’s official Web site, ilgi.lv.
