Heavy metal pioneer Huskvarn releases double album

March 08, 2008
Heavy metal band Huskvarn, which next year marks its 20th anniversary, has released a double album combining the 1992 record On the Road and 1995’s Bomb Brain Melodies, said Jānis Penka, public relations manager for Rīga-based Pasadena Group Promotion. The album was presented during a March 4 concert in Rīga featuring American thrash metal group Overkill.
Originally known as Husqvarn, the band Latvianized its name to Huskvarn in 1995, according to the group’s MySpace page.
Huskvarn tried at least twice to complete and release albums from 1995 on, but ran into internal differences and indifference from record companies. The band’s most recent recording is the EP Sadistika, released in 2004.
Band members include Normunds “Urbix” Stefenhagens, vocals; Ģirts Jansons, guitar; Bruno Josts, guitar; Uģis Jaunslavietis, bass; and Kaspars Grīnbergs, drums.
The double album On the Road / Bomb Brain Melodies is available in compact disc and digital formats.
