February 28, 2008
Latvian mezzosoprano Elīna Garanča, whose well-received debut with New York’s Metropolitan Opera is nearing its end, will be featured in a March interview with Bloomberg Television’s “Muse” program.Garanča will be interviewed by critic Robert Hilferty about her debut as Rosina in Gioachino Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, the influence of her Latvian heritage on her musical life and how she plans to shape her future career, reports Boston resident Jānis Bībelnieks. How does he know? His sister, Zinta Bībelnieks Lundborg, is executive producer of the show.
“Muse” is a 30-minute program focused on the arts and culture.
The interview is scheduled to air at various times in the United States from March 21-23. The show also is carried on Bloomberg TV’s channels in Europe, South America and Asia via cable and satellite. Check local listings for times. Interviews also often are available online at bloomberg.com.
