Mednis and Kīns release first album

Lidojums is the first album by the duo of Edmunds Mednis and Ēriks Kīns.
July 02, 2007
Edmunds Mednis and Ēriks Kīns have become a popular duo in the past couple of years, especially with their hit song “Putni.” Now the pair, who live in the American Midwest, have their first album, Lidojums, released July 2 on the MICREC label. The Chicago-born Kīns also is known for his work with the Latvian band Adam Zahl and, earlier, for his work with the Minnow Buckets. Mednis, born in Latvia, used to be part of the popular schlager band Bumerangs before moving to the United States. He also has performed with Adam Zahl.
They began to perform as a duo after teaming up in 2004 at the Latvian center Gaŗezers in Michigan.
The album contains 12 tracks, including “Putni,” the title song “Lidojums” and one of our favorite Adam Zahl songs, “Iesim peldēties.”
The album, according to the duo’s Web site www.medniskins.lv, is published with support from the American Latvian Association and the World Federal of Free Latvians.
More information about Mednis and Kīns also is available from the duo’s page on the social networking site draugiem.lv.
To support the album, the duo has scheduled an eight-city tour of Latvia during the second half of July. But before then, visitors to the 12th Latvian Song Festival in Indianapolis will be able to catch the two singers as part of the “Kabaremonts” show.
