Ūsiņš is the traditional Latvian patron of horses, who will be honored at the Ūsiņi celebration May 10-11 at Dievsēta, 19264 Bittersweet Ave., Warrens. This is the time when young men took their horses out to pasture overnight for the first time after the long winter, and the folks at Dievsēta accordingly spend this evening outdoors, cooking a traditional egg dish over a campfire. Plan to arrive earlier in the day Saturday and stay until Sunday. Those who wish are invited to help in cleaning up the Dievsēta yard and do other small jobs that have piled up over the winter.
