Fly guys from Latvia
February 26, 2006
Those aerial acrobats you saw during the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy? They were all members of Aerodium LV, an aerial acrobatics club from Sigulda, Latvia.
The group was led by Ivars Beitāns, according to the Feb. 27 edition of the daily newspaper Diena. Held aloft by a stream of air, Beitāns appeared to snowboard about 20 meters above the stage. Others participating in the performance were Ingus Augstkalns, Jevgeņijs Kolosovs, Reinis Rūtentāls, Guntis Šefers, and Kristaps Turauskis, according to Diena.
The next time you’re in Sigulda, you could try a ride in Aerodium LV’s vertical wind tunnel. For further information on the club, visit www.aerodium.lv.
