Šī ir mana pirmā oficiālā vizīte ASV, un tai bija trīs galvenie uzdevumi. Es vēlos pastāstīt, kādi tie bija – vispirms, sākt atzīmēt Latvijas 90-to dzimšanas dienu - tie ir 90 gadi, ko mūsu valsts svinēs 18.novembrī, bet mēs arī visi zinām, ka 50 no šiem 90 gadiem Latvija bija okupēta. Tādēļ gribu pateikties Jūsu mītnes zemei ASV un ASV tautai, kas bija tik augstsirdīga un izpalīdzīga un deva iespēju vairākiem tūkstošiem latviešu pēc kara ierasties šeit un sākt dzīvi…
