Question to JURMALNIEKI.

How did you cope with the blizzards?
How much snow have you had so far?
Have you ridden your scooters in this?

Please give us a report—PRONTO!!!!!!

Janis, NO snow in Indianapolis so far.

Sveiki Jani!

Actually, I thought the snow was great.  Eriks and I both live “in the city” as it were.  I can’t remember what the official totals were, but in our backyard, we probably had a good 2 1/2 to 3 feet snow.  Same out front. This was on the 20/21st of December.

Then we got another big storm, probably about another foot on Dec. 29th.

Then last week, we got about 6 more inches on Thursday/Friday!

Finally, we’re supposed to get another couple of inches this Thursday night into Friday!

Of course, the December storms shut the city down.  We didn’t do much driving, since they ask folks to stay off the streets but the storms.  We have a hill near us and the kids had a grand time sledding!

We were stil able to get to dievkalpojums in Christmas Eve.

Otherwise, we survived just fine! :)

To be honest, I really like adverse weather, blizzards being one of my favorites!  So, I wasn’t bothered with all the drifts and difficulties associated with the storm.  I figure, I’ve lived in Colorado all my life, and you just have to expect that kind of weather once in awhile.

So, things are pretty back to normal, but while the main streets are dry, the side streets are still jammed with snow and ice trenches that were created from the warmer weather and then refreezing.  I suspect we’ll be seeing snow out our window for quite awhile no before it can all melt.  Also, the thawing/freezing has been creating big potholes on streets!

That’s about it.  If I think of something else, I’ll add it in!

Jurmalnieks Aleks

P.S. - no, we can’t ride scooters in this weather!  I’ve just been running my engine in the garage and tinkering with stuff on it.
