May the best MAN win! (GrossMAN vs MANning).

Although the experts are favoring the Colts, it could be a fascinating matchup. When the Colts have the ball one of the NFL’s best QB’s goes up against one of the NFL’s toughest D’s. When the Bears have the ball, an unpredictable QB goes up against an equally unpredictable D.

Plus, two black coaches playing in the Super Bowl in the year that a black and a woman have announced their interest in running for the presidency. Obama will no doubt be cheering for the Bears, while Hillary will quietly root for the same.

And a special thanks to Denmark’s VIASAT for bringing NFL football to Riga. But now I have to go and get some sleep....

I feel much better about the Bears now. :)

If the Bears were to have any chance the lines, defensive and offensive, had to play well. The D line finally put some pressure on the quaterback and that’s crucial in a cover 2 defense. The linebackers are usually busy covering the gaps in the cover 2 and if the linemen can’t pressure the quarterback he and the receivers have all day to find the holes.
The offensive line protected the quaterback resonably well giving Grossman time to throw and consider his options. He might not have set the world on fire, but he didn’t make any really bad decisions. If he is rushed to throw his football instincts are still in their infancy and he makes some really bad decisions. You can’t expect Grossman to throw himself out of a bad decision. He is still too green. I do wish he’d get back to hitting his receivers in stride rather than throw behind them and stop locking into his primary receiver (thought Jim Harbaugh was back there for a few plays), but overall I can live with his performances
The O line got a lot of credit for the run game, but from where I sit most of that credit should have gone to Desmond Clark who had some awesome blocks and sprung some of the bigger Jones and Benson runs. The Bears tight ends are always criticized for not catching that many passes, but that never bothered me. As long as the tight ends can block, I can live with their lack of catches. Let the receivers catch and the runners run and we have a chance.
Hoping for more of the same against the Colts. The D line has to continue to perform. If Manning has time to throw he’ll kill us. A couple of blitzes here and there might not be a bad idea either. It won’t matter how good your secondary is. If you can’t pressure the quaterback there are always holes in a zone defense that he can exploit and the Colts have some true stud receivers that will make the Bears pay if given the time.
If the O line can continue protecting Grossman he should have a good game. If he has a good game that will free up Jones and Benson. I don’t care what all of the experts say, Grossman doesn’t need to win the game for us. He just has to not lose it. As it has all season, this game rests on the shoulders of the defense. If they play up to their potential I think the Bears have a chance. There’s some real studs there. If they do not, the offense cannot win this for us on their own.
Then again, been wrong many times before.

Got to give credit where credit is due. The Colts were just plain better. Wait until next year?

“Got to give credit where credit is due. The Colts were just plain better”.  ?  The Colts did not play as bad as the Bears.
