Two American Marines suffered twisted ankles in seperate incidents during the fourth annual Kuwait Beach Volleyball tournament held during the holiday season since Operation Wait for Something started in March, 2003.
Since then, more than 200 000 Allied troops have been sitting in Kuwait, waiting for Saddam Hussein to a) give in to UN demands or b) die.
Neither has happened over the past four years, so the well-armed, tanned force remains in place, having been fully rotated at least eight times since 2003 (soldiers from most countries serve 6 months on “volleyball duty” in the oil rich shiekdom).
One Marine hurt himself trying to return a serve against the Latvian Defense Forces volleyball team. Although Latvia has just over 100 soldiers on volleyball duty, their team is considered a “superpower” among the volleyball teams of the “Coalition of the Waiting”.
The second Marine was injured in a match against Italy.

This is intended as a comment on the Subcommandante’s praise of the absurd Carnegie plan for “toppling” Saddam, not as an endorsement of the equally useless and absurd intervention.
Alas, it is too late to free Saddam and let him rule the Iraqi bardak in the manner to which these people are accustomed.
