Nice little story about one of the last few Latvian neighbors out at Haven Lake, once a popular little summer colony for Seattle area Latvians – now, only a few of us still enjoying its idyllic shores.  Ulivis is the son of Uga Alberts, a uniquely talented trimda’s artist who probably many of you recognize. Ulvis has had an up and down career and has most recently resurrected himself with this marvelous coffee table book he published in Riga last year - Poker Face 2. I saw Ulvis in Vegas during the World Series of Poker last July whilst he was hawking his book and the Poker World adores his work and views him as the “photographic historian” of their game.  Likewise, before the paparazzi of Hollywood, Ulvis has some of the greatest photographs of virtually all the stars in Hollywood of the late 60s and 70s.  These are shots of the stars in their private settings at their homes or social events where they invited Ulvis into their life.

Enjoy the story below in the Baltic Times:

Thanks for that, Jani!

Somewhere in the mid 70’s (at least I think that was the decade, maybe the 80’s?--can’t quite recall anymore), Ulvis had an exhibit of his photographs at the Nams in L.A.

That was so long ago, I can hardly recall the specifics, but I do remember one of my friends who had attended Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, being very impressed, especially about a Latvian who made good.  Always glad to see that happen!
