Got to agree. This is not your usual who, what, where? police blotter.
As for writing for a larger audience, everybody has to start somewhere and maybe this just happens to be Mr. Andris Vanadziņš’ starting point. The beloved NY Times columnist, Russell Baker, - who created his own unique style and approach to journalistic writing over the years - started out writing painfully boring police beat stories in Baltimore that weren’t nearly as entertaining as those of Mr. Vanadziņš. If he keeps it up, good things probably await him.
Thanks for the Cēsis link. I had it bookmarked on my laptop that crashed a while back. Glad to have it back. I like to visit Cēsis every chance I get.
Very entertaining! Even more so than some of the hum dingers in our previous little hometown newspaper!! I’ll never forget how hard I laughed reading the police log, about the man who called in complaining about all the gypsy moths who were all over his property/everywhere and how there was nothing left to do, but just go get stoned!
Nice to see that the Cesis police have such an amicable rapport with their clientele!
