This is a fantastic musical show for all ages, performed at the XII Latvian Song Festival in Toronto, 2004 and again a number of times in Riga—the VHS has been donated to the increasingly popular Bookstore at Saulaine, rural property of St. John’s Ev. Luth. Lat. Church in Toronto.
An enthralling 2 hours , highlighting the uncertainty, passion, excitement, fear and anger of the time—all in Latvian. The cast includes a number of professional Latvian actors and singers ( Laimonis and Brigita Silini)- Text and music by Alberts Legzdins (Cikagas Piecisi), Lolita Ritmane, Andris Ritmanis- directed by Gunars Verenieks. Great choreographies by Tamara Eke from Latvia!
There is a running black and white backdrop of actual photos of life in this largest Latvian deported persons camp in Southern Germany—very clever and very moving.
All books/films are donated to the bookstore by Saulaine supporters, all proceeds go to the camp and all work is only volunteer.
We would ask for a minimum donation of $35 for this film- check or MO would be made out to St John’s Church in Toronto-Saulaine Bookstore.
We can mail anywhere! Postage would be added to the donation.
