Aleksejs,
Stop playing stupid about “occupation.” The issue is not debatable and this endless and fatiguing nonsense from Soviet deformed Russians ends here for me as it should for every normal human being on the face of the earth who is not Soviet deformed. If this had been the stance in Latvia from the time of renewed independence and maturely accepted as Latvia’s historical fact by all people who really care abour historical truth and about Latvia, including Russian beckground citizens of Latvia, this nonsense would have ended long ago. I don’t care what revised version of Soviet history Kantor wants to share with her fellow Russians but it’s a waste of any Latvian’s time to see the inching away from Soviet deformed history as real progress when the only purpose it serves is to allow Russians to feel better about plaguing the Baltics with their Stalin and Soviet imprisonment and to be delusional about “liberation” that ended with their own imprisonsment beginning May 10.
Also, stop playing stupid about “two-worlds” Latvia and how harmful and debilitating its continuation is to the future of Latvia. Do you want Latvia to thrive or don’t you? Well, hon, it ain’t gonna happen with Chas and Vesti feeding “Russian world” info and prop to Rusian citizens in Latvia while conscioulsy ignoring and purposefully neglecting real news that should by now be of interest to anyone having chosen to live in a country called Latvia. Covering the 2008 Latvian Song Festival with “they came, they sang” was not intended as serious news coverage but as a continuation of infantile disrespect. Time to grow up and live in the real world that is “Latvia” and not a post-Soviet Russian space that thinks Putin is the President and propaganda from Moscow in Chas and Vesti is real world news.
