There may be a limitedness to the band’s sound, but Kaupers does some good things with words.
My favorite line is still, ‘Jo tikai vienreiz dzīvot dots, Un kā tu domā, vai viss ir izmantots?’

Hi Albert!  From what you’ve said in your post, my personal interpretation, of course, it appears that you as, I, myself, don’t believe in mixing politics with music, art—I like to keep them separate, if possible.  An example of that is the Soviet choir.  Some of the repertoire of songs, singers are absolutlely superb!  And/but in this particular case, I would really understand if someone were offended, just couldn’t stomach listening to any of it, because of that word “Soviet” and all the horrors that that word represents.  But if you possibly can get beyond that and just listen to the music, the voices -there’s a universal beauty which reaches out beyond and touches what’s most human about all of us; speaks about yearnings, longings touching the cores of our souls, something which most of us can relate to regardless of religion, non-religion, nationality, ethnicity…

As for Brainstorm, I can also see why there are some, many Latvians that I know personally who really love this group.  I even bought some of their music and the song, video which never fails to unabashedly bring tears to my eyes is “This is my country”.
