Bruno Martuzans has very kindly provided me with information on the family STARR who owned businesses in Riga around WWI?

I wonder if anyone knows what kind of businesses these were?  Some of them were barbers/hairdressers.  That much I know.

My searches have found nothing to date.  Where else can I search?

Firstly,I guess you should write to the Latvian State Historical Archives asking whether they’ve got anythig about the family.Of course,it would be great if you knew at least one date of birth and provide any other information .This is the way I did it and succeeded in getting some.The family name doesn’t sound much Latvian to me.Were they of German or Jewish origin?If so ,then there are other useful links where you could look for them.

My family was of German origin and Lutheran, though the name certainly sounds Jewish.
