From Aleksejs on another thread:  Did you know, ambi, that Kleckins is an evil SC appointee to the board. Remember the Horizontal taimkods?

Did you remember? Or you had to google it, ambi? Did you read Usakov’s NRA interview?

I am just amazed that you were able to get that film so quickly and post it here.  I only wish I could have viewed this film not having read anything about it first. There is something to be said for expectations. Had I not read Kleckins critique I would not know what emotions it was going to trigger.  Usually when I see a touching film it stays in my head for days and I mull it over and come up with new revelations.  After reading the article, I was actually thinking ahead and expecting to feel what Kleckins wrote about. Nevertheless, it is a film to remember and I thank you so much for going to the trouble of posting it for us.
Thank you, Andrej.

For Irena: Nils Ušakovs: “Latviešiem un krieviem ir līdzīgas problēmas” The full interview is apparently unavailable. I have the newspaper, but I would hate to type it all up.

Aleksejs, I told you I did not forget about Kleckins - it’s hardly a name and event to forget - if you remember how much it upset me to have these Russian-servants in Latvia like him act like such innocents and try to get away with those ridiculous excuses on behalf of Russian interests in Latvia.  And of course they did since Kleckins is still there jammering away just like in the old Soviet days. His Soviet experience served him very well in knowing how to alter the truth.  I believe he is an SC party member.

And I did read the Usakovs interview, specifically was able to catch his disgusting and alienating explanation about his history-challenged feelings about his peoples’ occupation of Latvia.  I thought I’d spare myself the headache of posting it.  How many Russians occupants came to Latvia with and after the occupation that reduced the “Latvian” population from around 77% to just barely not the minority?  I wonder if Usakovs knows the number of russifying occupants?  “Occupation” is a word that will never cross his lips.  His family came as occupants - no, they were not Old Believers like you pretend are the vast majority of the current Russians in Latvia.  What year did he become a citizen of Latvia?  What else do you really know about chipmunk-cheeks?  I have no idea why the occupation part of the interview has been censored, an explanation no doubt like the taimkods one, but I couldn’t find it either.

Aleksejs,
Why don’t you just type the “occupation” paragraph.

Ambersun, are we trimdies ever going to give it rest?  The OCCUPATION, I mean.  It’s been 20 years.
Several LOL participants, including me, see no good in keeping this sad part of our history alive day in and day out on this Forum.  I enjoyed the earlier posts that debated our history, separating the facts from fiction about what happened during WWII. Those were very interesting posts.  Now when Latvia is no longer occupied, and for the past 20 years is going foreward as a mamber of the European community, why do you constantly drag up this sorry past?
Are you punishing the younger generation for the sins of their forefathers?
Your negative outlook is counter-productive to Latvia’s future. Does it really matter all that much today if Usakovs’ family came as an Old Believer or a Soviet occupier?
The guy is now a leading Latvian citizen, holding a pretty high office and trying to bring some unity between the Latvian speakers and the Russian speakers. To you it apperas he only favors Russian speakers, but I believe he is trying to accomodate both sides for a common good.  Why don’t we give him a chance instead of tearing him up every time he gives an interview?
