Courlander, I know that my father was put to work in the marshalling yards at Hamburg which I believe was in the Russian zone at the end of the war, I think schwerin was where my father ended up first of all with false papers using the name Andrejs Orleans then maybe he went to sengwarden near to wilhelmshaven which was where he was brought to England from by the Red Cross in 1947. I have photo,s of my father in German uniform, maybe he was in the latvian legion I don,t know because my father never told me, but, after seeing these photo,s I have my suspicions.

That is curious that your father would choose to defend LV when it wasn’t at risk (after return to independence). Why didn’t he return to LV after the war and defend it when it actually needed it?

When people make outrageous claims that ignore their own past actions, then I will ask the question.

Nobody would begrudge your father his decisions (though I admit that taking on a different identity makes me curious), but still it is odds when anyone says that they would defend LV when 1) they had the chance and didn’t and 2)are planning on doing it from the other side of the Baltic Sea.
