I have covered this earlier.  Under war time conditions in occupied teritories there is no regaining independence, because of the logistics of waging war.  There is a war time administration geared to the war effort..  What might or might not happen after the war is over is just speculation.

So you wouldn’t apply the same to the Soviets when they retook Riga in 1944 amidst the war, would you?

Nice of you to concede this point in light of what you wrote in post #451. Are you also geographically challenged buy any chance?...

”... Poland’s eastern border shifted east into Russia.” You mean to say beyond that territory called Ukraine? Considering your “speculation” concedes Ukraine to Germany (“Ukraine would become part of Germany.”), I’d love to see the land bridges that would accomplish this.

I do not see why not.  Except, it took Latvia close to fifty years to regain independence after peace came.

Perhaps it would be a bridge similar to that today between Russia proper and its East Prussia province.
