“Waking the dead”

I was reluctant to post this lest certain McCarthyist persons bring up my reading habits at fifteen, but most of this article is thoroughly thought-provoking in the best sense. Obama aside, Benjamin has always been of interest and this is an excellent distillation of a lens (ō, lentil soup) through which to look at how we grasp history & handle it—to do what. I wanted to post it to the latest Ulmanis thread but hawed… but here.

Perhaps God wants to retain that part of the globe pristine and wild. so He keeps Russia incompetent internally, while belligerent on the outside, to repel commercial developers.
