I know it is always dangerous to try to generalise about the characteristics of a nationality, however I am going out with a Latvian man ( I am English) and sometimes find it hard to understand what is going on inside his ‘head’
Are latvians ( as a general guide) - and especially Latvian men - very reserved about showing ANY displays of affection in public.  As I am quite used to the Latin/Mediterranean male I sometimes find it quite bewildering if I go to give my Latvian man a welcoming kiss in public - and he does not like it!!
Any comments/guidance very much appreciated.

fleury, I’d say you’re right.  Generally speaking.

Find yourself a Russian guy—now THEY are much more affectionate and demonstrative!!

But, seriously, I guess it depends on what kinds of “displays of affection in public” you’re talking about.  My parents disapproved of public displays of affection (especially my father)—a SHORT, friendly kiss, hug, well that was O.K, but nothing more.  But then again what do I know, coming from the generation of baby boomers born to very conservative parents.

In general, I agree with Anita, Latvians as a group are very reserved.

I think that you two need to talk…that, that would be a good idea!
