Spectator speculates?...

According to Harold Camping, a Bible expert with a Christian radio network, Rapture will occur in May, 2011.

Although it is interested to always make a guess, the New Testament is very specific in this matter. But didn’t WWII Germany air drop leaflets over France, proclaiming the end-of-times will shortly begin. And didn’t the French “coincidentally” surrender not too long afterwards?—-Hmmm, another “created” weakness for later use?

P.S. One should hesitate in announcing a date. But if I were to guess (and still abide by what was written in the Bible), I would say it is drawing nearer. (—-Hey, the future is always one day sooner by the next day!)

It is always profitable for a prophet to predict a disaster.  If the prediction fails, it will be forgotten.  If the disaster actually occurs, he or she will be rewarded with a reputation for wisdom, mental acuity and courage to express an unpopular opinion..

Agreed!
But would there be a remembered “reward” if the date of the Rapture is for once correctly pegged?

P.S. BTW, the era of the prophet has passed.

Just a few more remarks on prophets…

Despite Spectator’s it’s-just-a-job depiction of “modern prophets”—- In the Old Testament, it was a very hard life for a prophet; as their common reward for an incorrect prediction was their own immediate death. (Yes, yes, it would seem that spectator’s “forgotten predictions” perhaps prevailed for the more successful old prophets. But still, one has to wonder if some of these old successful prophets at times resorted to “words of wisdom” in hopes of carrying them thru those “bad/to-be-forgotten” times. And don’t we still hear this today in the some of today’s self-appointed “prophets”? (...Please, I make no reference to Harold Camping here.) I could though mention some well-known contemporary name(s) here, but I am as well assured that if I did, I would then be treated like some “prophet” prone to mistakes.)

P.S. It is interesting to note that there was a long lapse of Old Testament prophets prior to Jesus’ birth.

Visionaries are still here, but at least some have found that it is safer and more profitable to go into business.  I would classifiy Bill Gates, Edwin Land, and their ilk as prophets because they were able to ascertain the truth and make it a reality.  Karl Marx and Adolph Hitler were failed prophets - false visions and clumsy executions.
