I was going to respond to Roberts’ strange post, but the gods (of matriarchs, I hope) led me into such shock that I reread this instead. It’s a .pdf file—Timothy Garton Ash’s marvelously insightful and incisive article about “The Twins’ New Poland,” from the NYR.

It’s a bit outdated (a twin was finally ejected...) but last time I looked for it—it was not available for copyright reasons, so do please get it while you can. I invite Ambersun and everyone to think about Latvia when reading—there are so many points in this piece that I suspect will be piercing if you do.
