Natural societies are small groups of people, held together by kin selection and by trading favors with other group members.  If the group grows above a certain size, these effects get diluted, and the group splits up.

Since larger groups are more advantageous for defense and for aggression, methods have been invented to increase cohesion of such groups.  Those methods include religion, culture, racism, chauvinism, all kinds of scare tactics, alone or in combination.  It is hard to find a society that is held together by love.

The Tsunami was a test by God to see if the population of the world can transcend such prosaic things as kin selection and reciprocal giving, and do their best to aid the unfortunate victims of the disaster.

Don’t worry about the victims!  Their souls are in a better world than ours.  Their demise is God’s test for mankind to see how many people can trancend their local loyalties and squabbles, and work for the benefit of mankind.

Seskis,

An absolutely awesome and succint interpretation of a world class disaster through the application of religious parameters!Even if one does not concur with the premise, the presentation is magnificant.
