Some time ago Arija asked me to post this picture of a pair of magpies for her. I was away then, but have been back a week now. I just remembered her request, so here is the picture:

I like magpies…

In fact, I’ve always liked all of the corvids that I’ve encountered and here’s the question, “Are magpies special in Latvian culture?”

I’m aware that storks are very special and much loved but magpies also?
