We get all our magazines late here, but in the March 24, 2008 issue of Newsweek the My Turn page is a beautiful essay by the husband of Sigrid Von Bremen Thomas, “An Electronic Cure for Despair.” Thomas, an Estonian from Potomac, MD, has published a book, “Goodbye Stalin: A True Story of Wars, Escapes and Reinventions,” describing her family’s four flights from communism.  Check it out...check out the book.

As long as I’m making my rounds here tonight...but honesly, that does sound like a fascinating remedy, “An Electronic Cure for Despair” for an ancient malady.  And thanks also for the book recommendation.  I’m still in the midst of my Latvian readings, but I like to entertain the thought of other readings and keep these on the back burner of my memory.
