I am trying to locate books and magazines covering Lietiska maksla. More specifically the stuff published outside of Latvia. New or used.

I heard of a book Latvju raksti runa (Latvian ornaments alive) by Lidija Beklesova and Arvids Sodums published in 1999 which I would like to locate plus Lietiska Maksla #1, #5, #6 and if there are any publications of the magazine (from Australia) after issue #18.

I have Latvju Zeltene from 1935, 1948-49 and then 1950+. I am interested in any information regarding these magazines. Were they even published between 1935 and 1949? When did they stop publishing? To my knowledge from 1950 on they were published in Germany.

I am specifically interested in knitting, cross stitch and leather works. Any info as to who I can contact or where else I can look is appreciated. Thanks.

One place to keep checking is e-Bay; http://www.ebay.com
search: latvia* (category: books)
These 2 are there right now for the next 3-5 days.  I have bought some latvian treasures through e-Bay.

Latvian Mittens by Upitis New Knitting Book Item number: 320170744245
Latvian Ornamented Knitted Mittens, by Mirdza Slava Knitting Book Item number: 180169974541

Another place is the Saulaine book store (see other post) and contact Kristine Kirsch Stivrins

Thanks. I have tried e-Bay and actually bought a bound copy of Jan-Dec 1935 Latvju Zeltenes from a used book store thru them. I was thrilled! I think the Saulaine book store is my best option. I also wanted to contact Lidija Beklesova who contributed to the publishing of the Lietiska Maksla booklets to locate the ones that I am missing.  I recently got her address but it was from several years ago and I intend to write to her. Some of the stuff published in those booklets is awesome but many of the artisans have passed away. I forever lament the beautiful work we lose due the fact that they no longer contribute.
