Oodles of books in Latvian have been donated to the bookstore. All donations go to the support the camp, the non-profit summer property of St. John’s.

100’s of Latvian authors--Velta Toma, Klidzejs, Aspazija, Gubina, Grebzde, Voitkus, Anslavs Eglitis, Alfreds Dzilums, Valdemars Karklins, Karlis Kezbers, Skalbe, Poruks, Nikolajs Kalnins, Teodors Zeltins, Jaunsudrabins, Aina Kraujiete. Lots of history books on Latvia in Latvian. Read now what you weren’t interested in reading as a kid!

Let me know what you are interested in and I can take a look as to what is available.

Alfreds Berzins: 1939; Labie gadi un Karlis Ulmanis
Felikss Cielens: Laikmetu Maina- 3 volumes
Kundzins: Latvju seta, Daugava, Stockholm
Aizsilnieks: Latvijas saimniecibas vesture- 1914-1945

To answer the question: of course we will mail!

Newest books as of yesterday:

Redigejis Prof.Dr. K. Straubergs : Latviesu tautas miklas, sakamvardi un parunas,
Imanta, Copenhagen, 1956--hard, linen cover, 470 pages, perfect shape.

Also, Latvju dainu izlase: J. Kadila apgads, I and II. 3rd printing, hardcover, Eslingen, 1949. Volumes sold together. Exceptional sections on Latvian traditions for weddings, christenings, 24 very uncommon rotalas ( singing games). Also a section on how family members are supposed to behave with each other ( eg. how an estate got divided up and what to do if there is conflict !).

All books are donated to Saulaine, all donations support Saulaine!

For the life of me, I can’t remember who asked about Bilmanis books.

The Bookstore has:

A HISTORY OF LATVIA: Dr. Alfred Bilmanis, 1951, Princeton University Press
as well as
LATVIA AS AN INDEPENDENT STATE, 1947, published by the Latvian Legation, Washington, DC.

Will offer both together. All proceeds support Saulaine. http://www.campsaulaine.com
