Another long out of print book has been donated to the Saulaine Bookstore; “Latvian Literature” ( in English), hardcover, excellent shape, 451 pages, 1964, editor: Aleksis Rubulis, DV Publishers, Canada.
Short novels and stories by the best known classic Latvian authors: Blaumanis, Akuraters, Skalbe, Jaunsudrabins, Virza, Ezerins, Veselis, Eglitis, Klidzejs, Toma, Gubina, Skipsna, Lesins, Viksna, Gubina, Dzintars Freimanis, Eriks Adamsons and others. Great translations--even contains Blaumanis, much discussed on an LOL thread, “ Naves Ena” ( In the Shadow of Death). There are a few works by each author. Also contains an overview of the history of Latvian Literature as influenced by the particular political and social times and a bio of each author.
