I am having a very hard time to find some of the famous items here in US - ex. Rīgas Melnais balzams
It can be brought for NATO sammit, but there is no online store anywhere, or is there?

I can find chocolate by Laima, but hardly any other stuff. There are few “Russian” stores but somehow in past 2 years this channel have became dry…

Any help or suggestions?

Bonjour Serge!

First quick answer is to check http://WWW.BALTICSHOP.COM.

I don’t know where you live, but the Russian store we usually go to here in Boston usually stocks Balzams and Laima chocolates, although the Laima selection is rather sparse. We can also find karums, sour cream and butter from Latvia. And on some rare occasions, we find Kerfirs and Kvass.

We’re lucky here in Denver.  We’ve got a “super” liquor store in the area that sells Balzams - In different sizes no less.

Same system for DC area...there’s a russian store in McLean (VA) that sells Laima, Melnais Balzams and several other “must have” items from the Baltics.  My daughter also found the same thing (quite accidentally) in London!  Don’t know where you live, but have you tried that route?

Hello, look around your area for any ‘foreign’ grocery store that sells imports.  In Minneapolis/St.Paul we have 3-4 (that I know of); “Kiev”, “European Imports” and European deli..” (?) and the Greek store “Bill’s Imported Foods”.

They don’t all carry the same items, and they don’t always have everything, but if I make the rounds, I can get these items from Latvija:  Klasiska rupjmaize, klasiska saldskabmaize, kvass, berzu sulas, salitas silkes, sviestu, skabo krejumu, saldo krejumu, Cido sulu, sieru, Laimas sokolades, Rigas sprotes, renges + citas zivis bundzinas, ‘karumus’, etc.

There has been no Aldaris anywhere recently - don’t know why.  Don’t know about Rigas Balzams.
