Voldemorts did it!

Actually, it will be revealed that Voldemorts is an anglicisastion of the Lettgallian “Voldemors,” He is a purveyor of magical potions called “krutka” and “kanža.” He was quite upset that the Magician community did not lift a wand to help the Letgallian people during the Nazi and Soviet Occupations, and thus vowed to smote them all down.  Which he suceeded in doing.

I’m proud to write that I’ve got this far without reading a single word of the Potter books or seeing a single minute of any HP movies and have not spent a single cent on anything to do with HP.

Bragging about passing over something popular is effective only if the popular thing is dreck.  You, Ivar, though you don’t realize it, are strutting about the fact that (thus far) you’ve missed out on a wonderful journey.  My sympathies.  Stop trying to be a snob, and enjoy the ride!

Yes, JK Rowling has made millions off Harry, and yes, there are some silly Harry products out there, but there’s a reason for the books’ ever-growing popularity.  They are marvelously written, with amazing attention paid to detail throughout, effective dialogue, vivid imagery and food for thought interwoven with the fun and adventure.

I’ll also add that, in my opinion, the Latvian translations are well done, too!

I think, dear Anita, that you’ll find one day that as you get older (and find that time is running out) that you will likely be more choosy about what to do with the time remaining....then again, maybe not....i guess we’re all different.

But I’m always willing to try to be open, so I’ll take a peek in my local library one day when I’m lost for reading matter. Currently reading ‘Cooking With Fernet Branca’, which actually mentions in passing a recipe relating to lampreys!

....and also proud to write that I still haven’t expended a single cent, second or microjoule of energy on Britney Spears.

holy mother of pearl! I’m having a great old time jes talkin’ to myself here.

Well, I knew that the Potty Harry syndrome would hit me sooner or later, no matter how hard I try to avoid it.

Sure enuff, I’m sitting peacefully at home listening to one of my favourite music programs on the good old PBS 106.7 FM here, the one called “The Score” (film music) and….you guessed it, Adrian decides to play a big slab of HP film music. I have to admit some of it wasn’t half bad, even though John Williams (also did music for Star Bores, I believe) is not really my cup of tea.

So there you go. I guess I’ve been well and truly punished!

btw, PBS is a great station....become a member and get the programs on web streaming or whatever it’s called....(but you probably don’t have to be a member to do that)
