Hi folks,

Just wanted to let people know about our plans this year!

Our site has been a bit stagnant lately, but we’ll be working hard this year to keep it up-to-date.  We should have some fun, new stuff up there by the end of this month.

So, on with info for 2007.  Firstly, this weekend in San Francisco:

May 5th, 2007
SF Latvian Center
55th Daugavas Vanagi Program
2:00pm PT
... To be honest, I’m not sure if this is an “open to the public” program or not, but check with the local DV folks and they could let you know if you want to attend.  This’ll be a straight forward concert.  Hope to see some familiar faces there!

June 23rd, 2007
RKLIC (Kursa in Shelton, WA)
Jani!
Starting at some point in the late afternoon as usual into the night
... We’re back this year for Washington state’s Jani!  For those who have attended before, you know what to expect!  It’s a great time every year, and maybe we’ll get another heatwave there like last year.  We know we’ll be seeing familiar faces there!  Always a good time.

July 4th-8th, 2007
Indianapolis, IN
Indy Dziesmu Svetki of course!
...  We’ll be in several places.  We’re participating in the Folk Music Ensemble events along with other groups that’ll be taking place over the length of dziesmu svetki.  Then we’ll be playing the Balle on July 5th - that’ll be a sort of balle/rotala/paru deju dance evening sort of thing.  And lastly, we’ll be playing between the Polka Boy sets during the Svetku Balle.  Lots of chances to listen and dance to our music! :)

November 3rd, 2007
Again in Indianapolis, IN!
55th Daugavas Vanagi Program
No clue as to what time exactly yet
... We’re back again in Indy!  This time to provide entertainment for the DV’s 55th celebration there.  We were there for their 50th anniversary and we’re back again.  Like a bad santims, we just keep turning up!  I remember last time that the event was open to all people, so with this much warning, we’ll hopefully see you there!

Next, some sad news:

With the beginning of the new year (2007), Astra Mangulis decided to retire from the band.  She’d been weighing the decision for awhile now, and finally settled on retiring with the start of this year.  We will certainly miss her and the sound she brought to the group!  We’ll be looking for a new person to fill her shoes now.  Keep an eye on the website for upcoming info!

Next, some fun news:

Check out YouTube.com for some clips of us playing!  Just go to YouTube and do a search under Denveras Jurmalnieki.

Finally, we want to mention that this year, 2007, is our 15th anniversary!

Loved seeing all the Jurmalnieki videos, watching, hearing you play!  Frankly, I haven’t explored Youtube much and was amazed how much is there!  I found myself immersed in all kinds of Latvian stuff (mostly music) that I didn’t know existed--from Jumi, folk dancing and some really great videos from one of the song fests in Latvia.  Had a grand time!  Thanks!

Good luck in all your travels, endeavors--BTW still waiting for you to come on up to Boston sometime in the near future.
