First I appologise to all that replied to me in the past, but all replies were lost. My siblings and myself are looking for any relatives (or friends) of my late father,JANIS ARVIDS VEPERS,who came to the UK from Latvia during the war.Any information would be greatly appreciated,Peter

Memories......there are plenty of things I wished I’d asked my father when he was alive,of course when we were kids we were’nt that interested, when we grew up there was never time, and it would upset him to talk about Latvia,so we never learnt a lot,but I can remember the fun when he and his Latvian friends used to get together! Then there was the “boxes” my grandmother used to send, amber, the fantastic ties and mitts (which when we were kids we did’nt appreciate)and of course the chocolate. For the most part of his life in the UK was spent in Cumbria, where he and a lot of his friends began life in the UK at Brougham Camp near Penrith, where they worked mainly on local farms etc. There is a book,Cumbria The War Years, where there is a chapter about one of his friends Karlis Junga with a picture of them together at Brougham camp, which gives a little insight what it was like when they came to the UK.I must ask my brother about more of his old friends names, and post more info as I get it,unfortunately I dont speak any Latvian,Pete
