I live in Australia and about six years ago I reconnected with Ingrida who was living in Germany with her Moroccan husband and children. I had known her at MLG in Muenster, Germany in 1979/1980. For various reasons, I lost email contact for a while, and when I tried to get in touch with her again, her email address no longer worked. I would love to find her again, as it was a real pleasure to hear from her again after so many years.

Derkevics or Tenders from Dundaga; also members of the 2nd Latvian Legion or 19th Waffwen SS

I am looking for my father’s family. His name was Leonids Janis Derkevics. He was born in Ventspils, but his family (and MINE) lived on a farm near Dundaga. He was in the 2nd Latvian Legion, later annexed into the 19th Waffen SS regiment. They fought in the Battle of Leningrad and battles in the Courland. I am traveling to Latvia, for the first time!!, in June of 2009 and would like to meet any family whom may still be around. My maternal grandmother’s surname was Tenders. My father had a friend in NY by the name of Peteris Kurbis. Any information on anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Searching for Vinakmens relatives

I’m searching for my children’s relatives around the Tukums, Latvia. The surname was Vinakmens. I’ve gone as far back as Vilis Vinakmens, born ca. 1880 & his wife, Emilija Reisenbergs. Any descendent info about these families would be much appreciated. Vilis had 5 children: Janis, Alise, Arnolds, Karlis & Fricis.

Janis emmigrated to USA; Karlis & Fricis came to Canada in the early ‘50’s.

Alise & Arnolds stayed in Latvia. Alise married a fellow with the surname “Eldmanis” or “Erdmanis”.

Does anyone know how to access a current Latvian white pages phone directory from the Tukums area? It would be interesting to see if the Vinakmens name is listed.Thanks.

Hello. I am trying to locate an address for a wonderful couple my husband and I met in Honolulu. I realize this is a shot in the dark, but here it goes. Elga emigrated to Canada after WWII from Latvia. She met and married John, who was I believe a Danish diplomat. They have a son and a daughter and no grandchildren. Elga owned a restaurant for a while. Both Elga and John have traveled all around the world. They currently live in Toronto. That is what I know about them in a nutshell. Birth certificates translated from Latvian are dated 1949.

I have several photos of my family and others.
Perhaps I can somehow make a connection through photos, maybe someone elses family knew of mine.

]Hi, Iam currently researching information on my Grandfatehrs family History, there is not a lot that i know as we didnt talk about it a lot.

All we know is that:- Vilis Imants Lipacis, was born in Jaunpiebalga, Latvia on June 25th, 1925 to parents Peteris and Anna (Sejejs). As far as we know Vilis was an only child. We don’t know much more about his family than that. He came out to Australia in 1951.

if any one knows any information on Lipacis, or even His mothers Maiden name it would be a great help.

I’m looking for anyone who may have known my late grandparents Oscar and Elfie Dalbins who emigrated to Australia in or around 1950. I asked my grandmother prior to her passing about any history prior to Australia and she simply told me ‘we made it here’. As I am a father now I would be grateful for any assistance to find out anything new as I’d love to work on my family tree. Thank-you for any help anyone may offer and hope to hear from anyone who may know anything.

Carnickis family

I’m trying to find the family of Hildas Carnickis born 1913, and Doroteja Elma Carnickis born 1908 Riga, Latvia.
I don’t know Hilda’s married surname, but she had two daughters.
Doroteja was married to Teodors Udris and they had a daughter with the initials D.J.
I don’t think D.J.Udris ever married, I believe she is still living in Riga.
