Latvia
Baltica festival takes place in Latvia
This summer marks the 25th anniversary of the Baltica International Folklore Festival. The festival will take place in Latvia from July 5-9. It will kick off with a Baltic nations’ concert at 19:00 hours July 5 in the Great Guild Hall, Amatu iela 6, Rīga. The main festival venue will be Vērmanes Garden in central Rīga, which will be the site of concerts, workshops, activities and a craft fair from 10:00 to 21:00 hours July 6, 10:00 to 23:00 hours July 7, and 10:00 to 18:00 hours July 8. Other concerts will take place over the course of the festival in various halls and other venues around Rīga. On July 8 concerts and activities will also take place in the towns of Barkava, Cesvaine, Ergļi, Ikšķile, Koknese, Ķekava and Turaida. Concerts, activities, and a craft fair will take place in Madona throughout the last day of the festival, July 9, with the closing concert beginning at 18:00 hours on the Madona Open Air Stage. ‘Out in Riga’ celebrates Latvian music
A half-dozen musical acts from Latvia are scheduled to perform as part of Out in Rīga, a concert starting at 7:30 p.m. July 12 at P60, Stadsplein 100a, Amstelveen. The artists include experimental jazz-rock fusion guitarist Reinis Jaunais; singer-songwriter Imants Daksis; indie band Gaujarts; ska-punk band Mango; art rock due Mona de Bo; and breakcore due Kodek.
