New South Wales

3x3 camp to take place near Sydney

The annual 3x3 camp in Australia will take place Jan. 2-8 at the Wombaroo Adventure Centre, Wombeyan Caves Rd., Mittagong. The centre is a one-and-a-half hour drive from Sydney. 3x3 is a week-long camp for Latvians of all ages. The program includes lectures on various Latvian topics, workshops to learn crafts, children’s activities, and socializing. Former Latvian president Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga and her husband, Imants Freibergs, as well as the folklore group Laiksne will be featured guests at this year’s 3x3 camp. Christmas celebrations in New York

Christmas celebrations will take place at the Yonkers and Long Island Latvian churches on Jan. 4. The Yonkers Epiphany church service will begin at 10 a.m. at the Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church, 253 Valentine Lane, Yonkers. The Long Island Epiphany church service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church, 4 Riga Lane, Melville. The eglītes will follow the services. Guests at the Long Island church are requested to bring something for the pot-luck brunch but everyone is welcome even without bringing food.
