Christmas bazaar in Philadelphia

The traditional Christmas Bazaar (tirdziņš) will begin at noon Dec. 6 at the Philadelphia Society of Free Letts, 531 N. 7th St., Philadelphia. Latvian jewelry, books, compact discs, cards, decorations, hand-knitted hats and other Latvian crafts will be on sale from Balticshop.com and other vendors. Piparkūkas, pīrāgi, Latvian bread, cake and pies, gray peas, gotiņas and other foods will also be available for purchase. Enjoy a Latvian style lunch with some Latvian beer afterwards. Open to the public.

Premiere of Vasks’ music at Harvard

The Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus, conducted by Kevin Leong, will perform Francis Poulenc’s radiant “Gloria” and the Boston-area premiere of the haunting “Dona nobis pacem” by contemporary Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks at 8 p.m. Dec. 6 in Sanders Theatre at Harvard University, 45 Quincy St., Cambridge.
