- ‘The Singing Revolution’ in Edmonton
The Singing Revolution, a documentary about nonviolent resistance to Soviet occupation in Estonia and the Baltics, will be presented at 1 p.m. June 28 in the Magic Lantern Princess Theatre, 10337 82nd Ave., Edmonton. - Summer solstice celebration
Join Brisbane-area Latvians for a celebration of the summer solstice—Jāņi—beginning at 15:00 hours June 28 at the Latvian House, 24 Church Court, Buranda. All are welcome, but are kindly asked to bring along a food or drink to share. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going to the Latvian House.

- Multiethnic Midsummer in Indianapolis
The Latvian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Polish, Scottish and Swedish societies of Indiana host a Midsummer celebration in the afternoon and evening of June 28 at the Latvian Community Center, 1008 W. 64th St., Indianapolis. Events include Scottish and Estonian games, tug-of-war, corn hole, bocce ball, basketball, a children’s balloon bounce, and flower and oak leaf crown making. Traditional Latvian food will be avalable. Latvian items, including jewelry, will be for sale. A campfire and singing are planned as well. Participants should bring lawn chairs. Admision is USD 5 for adults. Children younger than 14 get in free. Dinner, which will be served from 4-7 p.m., costs USD 7 for persons age 14 and older, but USD 3 for children younger than 14. - Jāņi at Kolomenskaya Park
Celebrate the summer solstice with the Latvians in Moscow at 17:00 hours on June 28 at the ethnic museum in Kolomenskaya Park, Moscow. Bring along a food or drink to share; beer and cheese will be provided. An exhibit and demonstrations of Latvian crafts and folk costumes will begin at 19:00. Watch a theatrical performance dedicated to Jāņi by actors from Latvia at 19:30 hours. A theatrical performance of Russian folklore will follow at 21:00 hours, with fireworks at 23:00 hours.
