- Exhibit features artwork by Puriņš
Illustrations, painting and mixed media by artist Ansis Puriņš are part of the exhibit “Ink & Steel” running June 27-July 18 at SPACE 242, 242 E. Berkeley St., 2nd floor, Boston. This is the first full exhibit by cartoonist and illustrator Puriņš in nearly a decade. His work may be described as “kitsch horrific,” according to the gallery. Work by Puriņš has been published in newspapers and magazines. In 2007 he won Print Magazine‘s Regional Design Award. He self-publishes the comics Zombre, Gnome Gathering and Duppy. - ‘The Singing Revolution’ in Edmonton
The Singing Revolution, a documentary about nonviolent resistance to Soviet occupation in Estonia and the Baltics, will be presented at 7 p.m. June 27 in the Magic Lantern Princess Theatre, 10337 82nd Ave., Edmonton.
