A Jāņi celebration featuring post-folk band Iļģi is planned June 17 in the Embassy of Latvia, 10 Tõnismägi St., Tallinn. Traditional Jāņi foods will be available. For further information, contact the embassy at +372 627 78 50.
- Oregon
- ‘Rīgas sargi’ in Portland
The feature film Rīgas sargi (Defenders of Riga) will be screened at 7 p.m. June 17 in the Hollywood Theater, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd., Portland. The film, in Latvian with English subtitles, depicts the November 1919 battle for Riga against rogue German forces. The screening is sponsored by the Oregon Latvian Society. Tickets will be available at the door for USD 7.50.
