- ‘The Soviet Story’ in Brookline
In commemoration of the June 14, 1941, deportations from Latvia, the documentary film The Soviet Story will be screen after the 10 a.m. service June 15 in the “Trimda” Latvian Lutheran Church of Boston, 58 Irving St., Brookline. The film, by Latvian director Edvīns Šnore, tells the story of the Soviet regime and claims the Soviets helped Nazi Germany instigate the Holocaust. - June 14 commemoration in Adelaide
Adelaide-area Latvians will commemorate the victims of the Soviet era deportations at 15:00 hours June 15 at St. Peter’s Church, 23 Rose Terrace, Wayville. A church service will be followed by a concert with the Daugavas Vanagi chorus Daugava as well as Latvian and Lithuanian combined choruses. Valters Nollendorfs of the Occupation Museum in Rīga will give the welcome address.
